Boots will implement an online recruitment system during the next seven months in order to save time reviewing applicants.
The chemist and beauty chain will implement the StepStone e-recruitment software in its Nottingham head office and across its 2,500 stores. The aim is to help speed up the recruitment process for applicants, of which 20,000 full time and part time staff are hired each year.
Boots’ human resources department will be able to schedule job interviews online, as well as set psychometric tests for applicants. Previously, the company only offered online application for specific roles at its head office, and for opticians and pharmacists in stores.
The company has a Recruitment Transformation Programme, which aims to help stores find and screen candidates. It expectsto cut paper out of the recruitment process, as it standardises on the online system.
Dave Vallance, human resources operations director at Boots, said the platform would enable Boots to “attract and select better quality people” as well as simplify processes "for the benefit of applicants and recruiting managers”.
Other companies using StepStone’s online recruitment systems include the Royal Bank of Scotland, AXA, British Airways and Xerox. In January, insurer Aviva began a pilot using StepStone’s ETWeb talent management system to monitor employee development.
