This new industrial revolution is underpinned by so-called ‘roaming users’, the ever-growing legions of mobile workers who fundamentally rely on the internet for dependable, non-stop access to a whole array of mission-critical data, services and applications to enable them to do their jobs.
But where does this leave internet security? Falling prey to a targeted virus, a spyware program or a malware-infected website, for example, can do real damage to any organisation. Moreover, achieving internet security is all about control, consistency and certainty, which seems irreconcilable with the style of business now becoming the norm: looser, less formal, more flexible, boundaries ever blurring.
