Although V2 was quite successful, there were a number of gaps and the focus was still more technological than business in nature. Many ITIL practitioners and contributors felt that although the second rendition of ITIL was a quantum leap from the initial offering, it still needed more focus on the business of IT and the services provided to the business. Integration of IT processes with business processes was thought desirable. ITIL V3 was introduced to meet these perceived needs.
