At each stage, the techniques to manage cost, time schedules and business results may differ but are equally important to the end result: delivering the most effective application with the highest possible ROI.
The purpose of this paper is to highlight Compuware’s approach to improving application quality. This approach, known as the Compuware Quality Maturity Model (CQMM), provides the IT organization with a framework to assess and improve all aspects of delivering and supporting high-quality systems. Learn how this systematic approach to maturing your quality practices can lead to improved results for IT and the business.
The challenges of effective delivery
An application’s contribution to the business is measured through ROI; every application is expected to generate business value that exceeds the investment needed for its development, operation and support. Yet, at least 70 percent of projects compromise ROI by exceeding costs, missing time schedules and/or failing to deliver anticipated benefits. Weaknesses in quality practices contribute heavily to these shortfalls. What are the causes for this?
Quality is usually equated to testing after the application code is written. Instead, quality management should be started during the planning and requirements-gathering phase so that issues can be identified and resolved early, resulting in better requirements and design.
