AXA UK protects online operations with Oracle identity management

Federated identity system promises enhanced security

Financial services firm AXA UK is protecting its online operations by deploying the Oracle Identity and Access Management platform.

The system will be used to give customers and partners federated identity access to its websites and services. The move will streamline business operations, centralise and improve security administration, and cut operational costs.

The security technology will be rolled out in stages, with the first customers getting new sign-in protocols later this year.

Sue Kettley, head of UK security at AXA UK, said, “Oracle has been our trusted supplier in the web access management area for several years, both in the UK and the US.

"In expanding further into their identity and access management technologies, we are able to minimise the risks and costs to our business, whilst maximising the safeguarding of our customers' sensitive and personally identifiable information."

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) recently fined the UK branch of Zurich Insurance £2.3m for failing to have the adequate systems in place to prevent the loss of 46,000 UK customers’ personal details.

The fine was the highest that the FSA had imposed on a single firm for data security failings.
