Serco has chosen Accenture to partner it in a four-year, £36 million Ministry of Defence contract to deliver service transformation across the MoD’s Defence Business Services (DBS).
Accenture will provide management consulting services as Serco looks to transform MoD back office processes and deliver shared services against a backdrop of severe spending restrictions.
Ian Downie, managing director of Serco Joint Ventures, said the contract places and Accenture “at the heart of the MoD’s defence transformation process in the UK.” He promised to deliver savings and “to achieve significant service enhancements through ‘back office’ transformation”.
Serco and Accenture are putting their money where their mouth is. The two organisations said, “To demonstrate commitment and confidence in the consulting teams' ability to deliver business savings and added-value services at DBS, an innovative 'payment-by-results' contract for back-office services has been agreed with MoD.
Last week the retiring head of the MoD’s Defence Cyber Operations Group said hackers had successfully broken into the Ministry of Defence’s systems.
