McAfee announces ISS switch programme

McAfee has started an incentive programme to get customers to shift from rival ISS.

Users of IBM 's Internet Security Systems division, will be offered up to $40,000 in incentives to switch to McAfee security products under the aptly named "ISS Switch Program". The incentives include free installation and training to help switch from ISS intrusion-prevention systems to McAfee's IntruShield and Foundstone risk-management products.

McAfee says the programme is limited to ISS customers at this point and said it wanted to reach out to any ISS customers having doubts about the move by IBM to acquire ISS a few months ago.

"We're hearing from customers that they are concerned that their level of security will decrease following IBM's acquisition of ISS," says marketing VP Chris Kenworthy. "ISS customers can feel safe switching to McAfee because of our strong track record and clear vision for the future of security risk management. Our dedicated focus on security ensures that it will never take a back seat to systems, servers or semiconductors."

In the switch programme, McAfee says it will throw in IntruShield Security Manager at no cost, provide free "Platinum" support with a designated technical account manager, and free installation through the McAfee Deployment Assistance programme.
