Three has signed a managed services agreement with Huawei to support its core mobile network and ICT applications in the UK.

Huawei already provides customer connectivity systems to Three. Huawei has selected Tech Mahindra as its partner to deliver the ICT applications management.

The agreement between Three and Huawei will see a number of permanent Three jobs transfer to Huawei and Tech Mahindra.

Dave Dyson, CEO of Three UK, said, "This partnership is just one of a series that sees us enhance the capability of our Ultrafast network. The partnership means the existing team experience will continue to support the management of our core network.”

Victor Zhang, CEO of Huawei UK, said, “We already work with Three in six markets internationally and today’s partnership extends that relationship to the UK. I am pleased we will be welcoming new employees to Huawei, the skills and experience they bring will be vital as we develop our managed services capability."

A parliamentary committee in the UK is investigating the relationship between Huawei and BT, following a damning US report that said the Chinese company posed a threat to its national security.

Huawei has been supplying networking equipment to BT since 2005 and is heavily involved in supplying equipment for BT’s national superfast broadband rollout.
