Hilton hotels check in with BT WiFi

Offers tenfold increase in bandwidth

Hilton Worldwide has signed a contract with BT Openzone for the supply of WiFi and Internet services for its hotels in the UK and Ireland.

Under the agreement, BT Openzone will provide a tenfold increase in bandwidth and high-speed fixed line conference and event services to more than 100 Hilton properties, which includes more than 17,000 bedrooms, public areas, meeting and conference spaces.

In addition, BT will provide 24-hour customer support, network engineering, software development and constant network monitoring for the services. The Internet services will be delivered via a centralised cloud computing architecture.

The WiFi service will be free to all Gold and Diamond Hilton HHonors members, and all BT Total broadband customers. Users of BT OpenZone and its roaming partners will also be able to access the service.

Hilton signed similar deal with AT&T in the US and Canada last year.

BT said that it now offers a WiFi network to 2.8 million hotspot locations across the UK, with access from other hotel chains including Thistle, Ramada Jarvis and Macdonald.
