A suspected hardware failure at the Sovereign House facility is thought to be to blame for the outage which has affected customers since approximately 10am on Tuesday morning.

Colocation and connectivity solutions provider, C4L, which has hosted systems at Telecity’s premises, said in a status update that its engineers are reviewing a “P1 reported hardware failure” at Telecity, after its own services were disrupted.

“C4L engineers are concentrating efforts on resolving the issue located at Telecity Sovereign House,” a statement this morning read.

“While works continue, C4L have identified that, while services for some customers have been restored, packet loss is still present affecting other services.

“Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenienced caused. The support team are currently reviewing cases that have been raised."

Telecity has not responded to requests for comment.

A number of other companies have highlighted outages which have affected their own customers.

Cloud hosting firm VMhosts tweeted: “We are aware of some upstream connectivity issues to our ISP C4L. The problem appears to be with traffic flowing through Telecity...”

H2 Hosting labelled the outage a “serious issue”, but said that “services are now returning to normal following emergency fixes implemented at the source”.

In 2011, Telecity suffered a power outage at its failure at its Canary Wharf facility due to a “core router” issue.

UPDATE: TelecityGroup said in a statement that it "did not suffer any service issue yesterday at its Sovereign House facility”.
