Groupon deploys global video collaboration platform

Online voucher company wants to improve internal communications and training

Online special offers firm Groupon is deploying an enterprise video platform to enhance internal communications and collaboration.

The video system will be used to train and connect Groupon's 12,000 employees across its global offices.

Alan McIntosh, CIO at Groupon, said: “The video system from Kaltura we are using will allow us to reduce the cost of training, increase workforce productivity, and engage employees both on a professional and social level.”

Using Kaltura’s MediaSpace Corporate Tube application, Groupon employees will be able to watch videos targeted to their specific information and training needs, view and post comments, and upload and share their own user-generated content.

This content could include sales tips and tricks, best practices and other information.

Earlier this year Groupon acquired Hyperpublic, a location-based technology services startup. Groupon held an IPO last November.
