Deadline for disabled technology awards approaches

Organisations have until 18 May to enter Technology4Good Awards

Companies, charities and individuals are being encouraged to enter this year's Technology4Good Awards, as the 18 May deadline for entries approaches.

The awards are organised by charity AbilityNet, which promotes easier access to technology for the disabled, and BT.

The awards ceremony will take place in July, with winners chosen by a panel of judges from the business and charity sectors.

Organisations and individuals will be able to demonstrate their competence in a range of areas including accessibility, volunteering, innovation, fundraising, creating partnerships, community action and meeting the needs of disabled customers.

Sponsors of the awards include Barclaycard, Camelot and Microsoft.

Legal claims by disabled people for alleged unfair sackings in the US, including at technology firms during the recession, are said to have spiked.
