Times sued over police hacking

Police blogger Richard Horton is suing the Times newspaper after the paper accessed his email account.

The action, reported by the BBC is will increase pressure on News International over long running  phone and email hacking allegations, as well as claims that it hacked Satellite TV company Police blogger Richard Horton is suing the Times newspaper after the paper accessed his email account, according to the BBC.

In 2009 the News International-owned paper ‘outed’ Horton as the author of an award-winning anonymous blog entitled "NightJack".
Initially the Times denied it had hacked his emails, but later admitted it had gained access to private emails. Times editor James Harding apologised for the reporter’s actions at the Leveson Inquiry into press standards but said he had not agreed the hacking.

The action, reported by the BBC, will increase pressure on News International over long running  phone and email hacking allegations, as well as claims that it hacked satellite TV company ONdigital smartcards to undermine what was a key rival.
