SAP and Business Objects UK user groups merge
UK & Ireland user group conference takes place this November

The UK & Ireland SAP User Group (UKISUG) is merging with its Business Objects counterpart.
UKISUG will now be the overall umbrella organisation for the country’s SAP and BusinessObjects users. The Business Objects user group will operate as a standalone group within UKISUG, with its chairman John Weikert becoming a UKISUG board member.

The combined group will have over 600 members, of which around 450 are understood to be SAP user group members.
Last year, the global SAP user groups network, SUGEN, conducted a survey that revealed a third of BusinessObjects customers felt their needs were not being met by SAP. UKISUG has said it is working to address these concerns.
Alan Bowling, chairman of the UKISUG, said: “We’d like to welcome the Business Objects User Group into the wider User Group family. With BusinessObjects being SAP’s main Business Intelligence product, this merger makes complete sense for users of either or both products.”
He added: “Bringing the Business Objects User Group into the fold means its members can gain greater access to, and influence over, SAP.”
The news comes ahead of the SAP UK user group conference, which takes place 20-22 November in Birmingham. Keynote speakers include Timo Elliott, 20-year BusinessObjects veteran, who will be explaining why many business intelligence projects fail and what users can do to get better value from them.
Members of the UK Business Objects user group can receive a discounted rate at the conference.
The UK & Ireland SAP User Group Conference 2011 takes place in Birmingham on 22 to 22 November 2011.
