BULLETIN: British and Chinese telco giants will also develop international telecoms standards

BT has announced a research partnership with Chinese telco ZTE to share expertise in developing the next generation of telecoms services.

The telecom giants will work together to develop new fixed line, wireless and mobile telecoms solutions, and will jointly own any intellectual property that results from their combined efforts.

“By combining our complementary strengths and expertise on a range of research projects, we expect this partnership to be very fruitful for both ourselves and our respective customers,” said Clive Selley, CIO of BT Group.

In addition, BT and ZTE plan to develop international telecoms standards to enable interoperability of global systems.
