Clifford Chance rolls out single database search system
Search made simpler for 6,000 employees around the world

'Magic Circle' law firm Clifford Chance has rolled out a database search system from supplier Recommind across its 29 global offices, replacing multiple systems.
Recommind’s MindServer Search software will be available to the law firm’s 6,000 employees for searching the firm’s global data systems from the company intranet.

The software runs on Windows 2003, with two servers supporting the search engine.
Using the solution, called CC Search, users can to locate client transaction bibles, publications and transactions databases and any other information stored on the company intranet. Users can also use the system to find lawyers with certain areas of expertise.
"Our lawyers can now access much of the knowledge they need from one single search box, rather than having to search in multiple different databases," said Paul Greenwood, chief information officer at Clifford Chance.
The firm first piloted the software at its Amsterdam office. During the pilot, Recommind said that more than 75 percent of potential users accessed the system and 97 percent agreed that it offered "significant improvements" over Clifford Chance’s previous search systems.
Clifford Chance has already deployed the software at 23 offices, including London, Paris, and Asia, and will now roll out the system across the remaining six offices.
