Electricity and gas utility E.ON is set to standardise content management for its 120 internet and intranet sites.
The company will use the FirstSpirit content management software from supplier e-Spirit, in order to ensure content is better distributed and reused across the sites.
Under a €6.5 million (£5.7 million) deal, e-Spirit and service provider Adesso will also set up and manage centralised templates, workflows and publishing processes.
Using the PackagePool package management module, E.ON system users can maintain templates and content centrally, and distribute these to related projects with one mouse click. The module also allows for simple adjustments to individual sites.
In order to make E.ON’s websites more readable on mobile phones, the company is implementing the Adesso Web In Motion system.
E.ON, which last month announced it was cutting 75 IT jobs, said it was crucial that the CMS integrated with its core SAP systems, including Netweaver. E.ON also uses SAP enterprise resource management and customer relationship management, as well as an Oracle database and IBM servers.
Marco Thelen, project manager at the utility, said: “The solution needed to integrate seamlessly into the SAP NetWeaver portal, and had to produce sophisticated processes to safeguard a flexible and simple approach to using content several times.”
