Barclays has launched a cloud storage service to encourage customers to store important documents such as bills, statements and passport information online.
The Cloud It document management service allows customers to upload and organise documents to be stored in their online banking account, adding tags in order to make management easier. Users will also be able to set reminders for important dates such as a MOT certificate renewal, with alerts being sent by email or text.
As part of the secure online service, Barclays will scan all documents and will cancel uploads containing malware or viruses.
All personal account and business customers will be able to access the free service, which allows them to store an unlimited amount of data online.
A variety of picture and document file are supported, up to 5MB in size, though users will be unable to upload music or video files.
