Former government CIO joins Amor Group

Joe Harley, former UK government CIO, has joined Amor Group as its strategic advisor.

Harley, who was CIO for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) for seven years before being promoted to government CIO in 2010 replacing John Suffolk, retired from government in the spring of this year.

In his new private sector role, Harley will act as a non-executive advisor to the technology solutions provider.

John Innes, CEO of Amor Group, said: “Joe will be working with us in a strategic capacity to drive further growth in our business across public services, energy and transport sectors.”

Amor Group employs nearly 600 people across seven offices in the UK, Dubai and Houston. Innes believes that the market is opening up for smaller companies like Amor to take the place of large systems integrators and monopolies.

“We signed an £18.5 million contract last year with the Scottish Government to run its eProcurement service and we’ve seen real traction in international markets with our passenger tracking technology being installed at Dubai Airport and a number of wins for our energy team in the US,” he said.

The company has more than 20 years’ experience in business technology, and has announced year-on-year growth since a management buy-out from Sword Group in 2008.
