Dell set to cut UK jobs

It said that it needs to rationalise resources to operate effectively

Dell has informed staff based in its UK operations that it needs to make cuts to its workforce in order to grow its business and operate effectively.

The global technology company confirmed to Computerworld UK that operations in Bracknell, Nottingham, Glasgow and London would “continue to play a pivotal role”, but job losses would occur nonetheless.

“Dell has shared with the teams that with regret we need to make some very limited reductions to our workforce at our UK sites,” said a spokesperson for Dell.

“In order to serve our customers and grow our business, Dell must operate as effectively as possible. This requires that we rationalise resources and capabilities between business units, and continue to build the best and brightest teams to support our customers.”

The statement went on to say that Dell would continue to look ‘creatively and critical’ at how it operates in the UK.

“Through this process, we’ll continue to keep our teams informed and look for opportunities to develop our people,” the spokesperson added.

It was not confirmed how many job losses there will be, or when they will take place.
