Socitm appoints Kay Brown as president

Takes over from Glyn Evans

Kay Brown, head of ICT at South Lanarkshire Council, has been confirmed as the new Socitm president at the organisation’s AGM today.

Brown takes over from Glyn Evans, who was appointed president of the public sector IT managers’ association last year.

She previously held the role of vice president at Socitm, and has been a committee member of the organisation’s Scotland branch for 10 years. She is also a BCS Fellow and a CITP.

Brown joined the local government sector in 1991, after a career in private sector IT roles with companies including CERN and gas company BOC.

In her role as Socitm president, Brown will focus on membership and on promoting the organisation as the “society of choice” for the whole public sector, not just local government.

A new Socitm vice-president has also been appointed, Lynette Ground, who is IS customer service manager at Action for Children. She joins existing VPs Steve Halliday, head of ICT at Solihull MBC and Nadira Hussain from Tower Hamlets.
