Facebook to open new office in Hong Kong

Social network branch office to handle brand support, advertising

Facebook announced Tuesday the opening of its Hong Kong sale office that provides support for brands, agencies and companies in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The Hong Kong sales operation is Facebook's second in Asia following Singapore, said the social networking site, adding that it already works with major brands across Asia such as 3 Hong Kong, the mobile services arm of Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong and pharmaceutical and nutritional products company Wyeth.

Facebook said in a statement that more than 80 of the top 100 advertisers in the US advertise on Facebook. Currently, the sales team has offices in the US, Canada, Australia, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, and Singapore, the social networking site added.

"With millions of people in Hong Kong and Taiwan using Facebook daily to connect with the people, brands, and causes they care about, Facebook provides a powerful combination of reach and engagement for advertisers," said Blake Chandlee, VP & commercial director, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Emerging Markets.
