Sainsbury’s, the supermarket chain, has started recruiting for its year-long and summer graduate schemes.

It said that it has opportunities for 115 graduates, which includes 65 places on its graduate scheme and a further 50 places on its paid, year-long or summer schemes.

A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s said that of these placements, around five on the graduate scheme will be for IT, “with additional opportunities on our eight-week IT summer placement scheme”.

Students or graduates who gain a place on the 12-month or eight-week summer programmes may then get offered a place on the graduate programme or a direct entry role at Sainsbury’s. Those on the graduate programme will receive a starting salary of between £25,000 and £26,000, as well as benefits, such as a discount card.

Other schemes that Sainsbury’s is offering include retail, product development, procurement, finance, logistics and store marketing. The supermarket said that its retail is the largest scheme, to reflect the company’s plans to increase its shop floor space by 15 percent by March 2011.

Graduates interested in the schemes can find more information here.
