Procter & Gamble (P&G), has signed a ‘multi-year agreement’ with HP Enterprise Services to deliver an ‘always on’ operating environment, in a bid to allow the fast moving consumer goods company to keep products moving on time, from production to purchase.
HP has been a crucial IT parntner for P&G, supporting the company’s infrastructure and applications for more than eight years, and as part of the dealit will further automate and integrate the services it currently delivers.
HP will be accountable for the reliability of P&G’s critical processes, such as manufacturing, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, physical distributions and financial close.
It will also lead P&G’s Information Technology Operations Integration Service, where it will provide standard tools, processes and an integrated dashboard. It is hoped that this will allow P&G to easily connect vendors and create a working environment that encourages innovation and reduces cost.
“Always on isn’t just a concept, it’s a critical business drive for us. The HP team has proven its ability to deliver with quality and flexibility,” said Filippo Passerini, CIO at P&G.
The introduction of ‘always on’ will include consolidating some of P&G’s core infrastructure from a private model into a hybrid cloud environment using HP Enterprise Cloud Services. It will use HP 3PAR Storage, HP Networking, HP VMware virtualisation software and HP TippingPoint for a converged infrastructure.
The constract award is good news for HP as it faces up to 27,000 job cutss in a bid to reduce costs and return to growth. The cuts are expected to hit between eight to 10 percent for the company’s more than 300,000 employees across the world.
