Sapphire 2009: Coca-Cola boosts analytics with SAP

Best Run Now package promises fast ROI

Coca-Cola has installed one of SAP’s “Best-Run Now” offerings to improve the visibility of data for its decision makers.

The Best Run Now product set was launched late last year to deliver packages that meet immediate pain points of organisations and offer a quick return on investment.

The first packages focused on improving cost control and visibility in the enterprise and bundled software, consulting and financing.

Coca-Cola Enterprises chose to implement SAP’s NetWeaver Business Warehouse Accelerator to reduce response time for queries.

“One of our strategic priorities is to increase the value of our existing brands and to expand our product portfolio,” said Kemal Cetin, director, Business Information Services, Coca-Cola Enterprises. “SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator gives us clear and quicker visibility into our performance.”

Esat Sezer, CIO of Coca-Cola Enterprises, told a round table at SAP’s Sapphire event that his IT strategy was to fund innovation by creating efficiencies through consolidation of business processes onto mainly SAP platforms.

This consolidation has enabled Coca-Cola Enterprises to have development cycles of “days and weeks and rolls outs in weeks and months,” he said.

Ray Boggs, an analyst at IDC said: “Firms of all sizes are under pressure to sharpen business practices and capitalise on efficiencies. This means coordinating islands of information to optimise cash flow and understand the interactions of different business elements.

“SAP’s Best –Run Now initiative offers a problem-solving rather than product selling perspective, helping customer sort through the software, services and financing they need.”

To coincide with its Sapphire event in Orlando, SAP announced a series of additional Best-Run Now products.

These include modules for compliance with European chemical directives, as well as modules addressing more generic business processes, such as, fast financial close, maximising customer revenue and retention, supplier risk management, retail price optimisation and enhanced business intelligence offerings.
