The utility firm, which is the UK’s largest electricity supplier, has a dedicated IT operation called RWE Systems UK, which is planning initially to implement MKS Integrity at the firm’s residential billing systems centre in a bid to improve software quality.
RWE said it would make use of the system’s deployment management capabilities, coupled with its process and workflow functions, to enable a workflow-based approach to software deployment, which should support the automation and enforcement of release management best practice for its key billing systems.
The utility firm is expecting MKS Integrity to provide the repeatability, reproducibility and automation to minimise risk to systems and ensure compliance goals are met.
Jim Relton, head of release management at RWE npower, said RWE npower had introduced MKS Integrity “to support our business, providing us with full traceability and auditability from initial request for change through to the deployment of that change into production.”
He said the firm expected that the implementation to automate the deployment process, which should help to reduce costs, streamline processes and enhance reporting.
