The CPS originally signed Logica in 2001 for the COMPASS programme, a Public Finance Initiative contract to provide maintenance, support and replacement of the IT infrastructure.

Under the deal Logica owns and manages the CPS's IT assets, delivering a core case management system as well as intranet and internet services, a service desk and HR, payroll and finance support.

The updated contract will deliver support mobile working, provide enhancements to the national case management system and upgrade desktop IT and infrastructure services.

The Logica deal was announced as the Home Office also signed major contract extensions with Fujitsu and Atos Origin.
