The IT supplier said the move was important as it worked to strengthen career development opportunities among its workforce and keep a high standard of professionalism.
Wayne Horkan, chief technology officer at Sun in the UK & Ireland, said: "Sun is dedicated to professionalism; and in my opinion the BCS has never been more relevant as the emphasis on professionalism in IT, across the UK and the wider world, continually increases."
The BCS said group membership offers help with professional development, networking, and other opportunities. Other large companies that are part of its membership include Deloitte, the Royal Bank of Scotland and Capgemini.
Earlier this week, the BCS announced it had acquired Activ Training, an e-learning and testing firm, to enhance the qualifications it offers.
