UK-based software company Sage hosted partners, customers and employees for a week of events in Lisbon earlier this month. The conference included the launch of the latest version of its ERP software, research announcements, workshops, panel discussions and keynote speeches from executives. Here are the highlights...
1. The venue: The Corinthia Hotel, Lisbon
The conference took place at the Corinthia Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal from 12 to 15 May. The event saw Sage’s customers, partners and employees come together for a week of announcements, workshops and networking.

3. Mid-market CEO Christophe Letellier opening the conference
Mid-market CEO Christophe Letellier takes the stage to launch the seventh and latest version of the company’s ERP software (dubbed ‘ERPX3’).
4. European firms waste €9.6 billion on software every year
Based on Sage’s research, Letellier said that European firms waste €9.6 billion (£7.8 billion) every year by failing to fully utilise their business software. He said factors such as a failure to focus on the user of the software and attempts to build a ‘perfect’ bespoke system are responsible for much of the wastage.
5. Alvaro Ramirez: ‘our brand is a disaster’
In his keynote, European CEO Alvaro Ramirez described Sage’s brand as a ‘disaster’, acknowledging that the company needs to improve in this area. He said that the company plans to make investments focused on strengthening its brand.
6. Sage unveils version seven of its ERPX3
CTO of Sage North America Himanshu Palsule and European pre-sales director Denis Cohen Salmon demonstrate the latest version of Sage’s ERPX3. The software provides an at-a-glance dashboard over the entire company and will be available globally from June.
7. A sneak preview of ERPX3’s new interface
Palsule and Salmon showed attendees an example of the new ERP’s dashboard. The latest version is mobile-friendly, has a web interface based on HTML5 and supports multiple browsers. It also has a new search function and integrates with Microsoft Office.
